A mercenary and a mortician collide in a small-town paranormal mystery with a deliciously macabre edge. For readers who like a deadly hero, a heroine at home among the dead, and the prickly chemistry of two people who shouldn't work but do. The tone balances gallows humor with genuine darkness and grief. A great pick if you want unusual leads, slow-burn tension, and a town hiding plenty of secrets.
