My demon hunter — the possessive in the title is the heroine's claim on the man who hunts her kind. Ascher writes the dark paranormal with the hunter-hunted dynamic inverted by a single possessive adjective: the demon hunter belongs to her in some sense she hasn't fully articulated, and the story is her figuring out what that means.
