Depraved: morally corrupted, beyond what's acceptable, the condition the stalker romance hero has been diagnosed with by everyone except the heroine. Merlin writes the dark romance with the depravity as both the hero's nature and the thing the heroine is developing complicated feelings about — the depraved man and the woman who doesn't run.
