A prize in an alien competition whose rules the heroine didn't agree to and doesn't fully understand. Draven writes the alien romance with the prize framing made emotionally complex — she is the thing being competed for, and the alien who wins her isn't the threat she expected.
The Alien’s Prize is book 1 in Zoey Draven’s Warriors of Luxiria series. It rates 3/5 for spice and 3/5 for darkness, on the lighter side for sci-fi romance: of the 403 sci-fi romance books we rate, 13% score lower for darkness and almost none lower for spice. Tropes: size difference and captive / captor. Size difference is one of the less common tropes in our catalogue. It is about as dark as Zoey Draven’s other books on Readark (average darkness 3.2/5).
