The second Vampire Academy book: a ski trip, a massacre, and the frostbite of a situation that's gotten considerably colder. Mead writes the dark paranormal with the school setting giving way to the larger world — the frostbite is both literal and emotional, and the dhampir-Moroi bond is tested by what they encounter beyond campus.
